Hartmann Electronic cPCI Serial chassis was selected for the Reutech radar unit as an integral component of Meerkat surveillance system in South Africa. The Postcode Meerkat wide area surveillance comprises radar, cameras and information analysis software able to detect, track and classify people entering protected areas, such as the Kruger National Park. The system is used as part of the park’s anti-poaching operations.
In order to support fast data transfer between the different surveillance radar sub-system components and the processing computer Hartmann Electronic developed a 4 slot / 3U high speed cPCI Serial backplane and integrated this into a compact and ruggedized, field deployable chassis. Being DC powered this chassis can operate on batteries or solar power in remote areas as the Kruger National Park for extended time.
